Wirefence Supports East Birmingham Pocket Park with £233 Discount

On 26 March 2024 a new pocket park has opened in East Birmingham, backed by residents, charities, and national organisations. Wirefence contributed £233.93 in discounted materials to help build a gabion bench for Firs & Bromford Pocket Park.

About the Project

The National Trust and Intervention Architecture have created four pocket parks across East Birmingham with local communities. Working with Birmingham City Council, they turned unused land into welcoming green spaces. The project was funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Each park offers space for socialising, relaxing, and connecting with nature.

In Firs & Bromford and Ward End, more than 80 residents helped build the parks. Volunteers took part in planting, landscaping, and construction. Community groups like Open Door Community Foundation and Unity Hubb played a key role in local engagement.

Firs & Bromford Pocket Park began construction in February 2024. As one of the first completed sites, it sets the standard for others to follow.

Comment from Wirefence

“We were glad to play a small part in the success of this project,” said Erno, Customer Service Executive at Wirefence. “I coordinated the delivery and made sure the team had everything they needed, including guidance on how to attach the wooden top to the gabion.”
